Meet Emissionless, a sustainable logistics startup disrupting the freight industry. Driven by a deep-rooted fascination with transportation and logistics, founder Max Yergan saw the current electrification efforts of fleets and the emergence of autonomous technology as a unique moment to reshape how goods are moved. So, he took the plunge, bought a van, and set off to test his vision. The vehicle of choice? The Grounded G2, an electric work van uniquely customized to handle everything Emissionless could throw at it!

We asked Max about what made Grounded the obvious choice in kickstarting his venture. “The G2 provides us tremendous flexibility. The Brightdrop is one of the longest range commercial EV models available, and offers more cargo space than other vehicles in its class… Plus, it looks pretty badass”. Max also highlighted how Grounded’s modular interior expanded the vans capabilities beyond a regular cargo van, such as the flip-up desk offering a reliable work space regardless of location.

Grounded’s team worked hand-in-hand with Emissionless to build the optimal vehicle. “The team was very responsive and willing to accommodate almost any idea or design feature we could think of. We were able to make changes along the way and ended up with a vehicle perfectly suited to our needs”. The result? A smart, connected vehicle with near-infinite tie down points, a ramp, a flip-up desk, and flexibility for future customizations.

The G2 has proven to be the perfect vehicle for Emissionless. An endless amount of attachment points allows them to safely transport everything from electric motorcycles to fine art, and the range has been great for their needs. The driver assist technology and 360 degree cameras leave Max describing the driving experience as closer to a mid-size SUV than a van, and he has been confidently maneuvering the G2 around tight New York streets as a result.

Max’s fondness for one aspect in particular stood out, “The Starlink is a literal life saver. There’s times when I’ve been outside of cell range and needing to find a charging station or place to rest for the night. It’s also super convenient when I have some downtime while charging or resting for the night. Soon, we will begin trialing other applications for the vehicle such as mobile workstation or production van”.

The G2 has covered a lot of ground already; Round trips over 1000 miles have become regular, with stops mainly taking place on the East Coast and Midwest. The long range of the Brightdrop platform makes these longer journeys possible, but while the infrastructure is growing, there’s still room for improvement. “Our van charges at 150 kW, so it takes about an hour to go from 10% to 85%. It’s enough, but we’d love to see more DC fast chargers at rest areas and truck stops across the country.” At Grounded, we’re certainly excited for how the continued improvement of charging infrastructure will unlock new possibilities for our vans, and the recent announcement that all G2’s can now access to the Tesla Supercharger network is a huge step forward in that regard.

Looking ahead, Emissionless has big plans. We're eagerly anticipating their first cross-country trip, and a new pilot program set to launch in California in early 2025 means they’re ready to put Grounded’s electric work vans to the test on a whole new coast.
