World’s first 250-mile electric RV to showcase Michigan’s beauty during odyssey across the state.

DETROIT: After today’s official launch of the world’s first 250-mile electric RV, Grounded – the Detroit-based electric RV startup – is sending its new G2 model on a cross-Michigan road trip to highlight Michican’s beauty in partnership with Michigan’s Office of Future Mobility and Electrification (OFME), offering meet and greet opportunities along the way.

The Grounded G2, built on the BrightDrop Zevo 600 platform, represents a milestone in the future of sustainable travel. Its spacious interior, fully connected amenities, and sustainable design make it the perfect choice for eco-conscious travelers and adventure seekers.

Starting on Oct. 18, the G2, driven by award-winning Detroit filmmaker Stephen McGee, will embark on a 1200-mile road trip across Michigan, traversing its scenic landscapes, charming small towns, and bustling cities. The journey will include stops at some of Michigan's most iconic destinations, where visitors will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the Grounded G2, learn about its technology, and meet the team behind this historic innovation.

The road trip coincides with the beginning of McGee’s year-long film production on his 18-years-in-the-making documentary film about Detroit. McGee invites anyone at the stops along the way to impromptu campfire style projection slideshow and short films to hear about his time in Detroit to spread the word about the city he loves.

“We're thrilled to have the G2 showcase the best Michigan has to offer – from iconic destinations to an ever-growing network of charging stations across our interstates and strategic thoroughfares,” said Justine Johnson, OFME’s Chief Mobility Officer. “Building on Michigan’s rich automotive heritage, the state’s robust EV charging infrastructure, made possible through innovative public and private partnership models, will only continue to expand and help drive a future of sustainable travel and tourism.”

During the journey, Grounded CEO and Founder Sam Shapiro, will be available to speak with local and national media about the historic road trip and the experience of leveraging Michigan’s EV charging network while driving the world’s first 250-mile range electric RV.

“The G2, proudly manufactured in Detroit, is radically different from any other offering on the market,” said Shapiro. “We’re thrilled to share how easy it is to now travel in an eco-friendly way using this next-generation vehicle. There’s no better place for our inaugural journey than Michigan.”
